The year is kicking off with great fundraisers
Good Vibrations/Taste of Pismo Event April 15, 2011:
About 350-400 people turned out for this wine tasting/finger food silent/live auction event held on a perfect sunny Friday afternoon on the cliffs of Dinosaur Caves in Pismo Beach. Participants enjoyed the sounds of CT and Johnny Lee while sampling food and wine from local restaurants and checking out the many cool items donated
for the effort. Thanks to the generosity of the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce, King Ventures, and local businesses/wineries, this silent/live auction community fundraiser raised $25,014 for the family.

Pismo Beach KiteXpo April 22-24:
Local kiters and the kiteboarding industry donated over $22K in raffle/silent auction prizes and the no wind streak for the event was broken this year! Friday we had just under two hours of wind, Saturday Cameron Maramenedis (Dimitri’s son) was ripping on a 10m and skimboard (e.g. no wind for most of the rest of us!) and Sunday wind started blowing at 1:30p and was still cranking when I left at 6:30 that evening! Maui Mike and his family sponsored a killer BBQ on the Live2Kite Grill on Saturday and people got a chance to hang out and talk to Kinsley and Jamie who came down every day to see the action and see their many friends in the kiteboarding community. We gave away four trips thanks to Vela Kitesurf/The Kiteboarder Magazine, South Adventures (Portugal), Kite Cozumel/Casa Viento, and Kite+Surf+Reef in St. Lucia. On top of that, we received generous raffle prizes from Slingshot, Best, Epic, Nobile, Underground, Flexifoil, www.newind.net, Kite Naked, Global Surf Industries, Kaenon, Dakine, Murray’s, Mystic/Live2kite, Naish, Hyperflex Radog, Paddle Surf Hawaii, Central Coast SUP, F-One, Kurtis Surf Goggles, Wainman Hawaii, Elemental Herbs, Dragon Pearl Tea, Monavie, North, Carol Bolstad (custom painting), pismoartist.com, killedthewind.com, and Ben Wilson Surf. From sponsor support (vendor participation and donations for fundraiser), raffle ticket and bbq sales, we were able to raise $15,519 for the fund.
Four Cases of Wine Raffle: Headed up by Cheryl Cumming, wife of local kiter Ed Cumming, Cheryl networked with local wineries and business folks to get 4 cases of premium local and private collection wines donated for the cause. Along with Vintage 1255 on Monterey Street, a local wine bar/retailer in SLO County, and other volunteers that Cheryl rounded up, Cheryl was able to raise $3,800. The winner of the wine raffle was local kiter Tim Harvey.
TOTAL RAISED IN APRIL: $44,333!
